OUR LOCATIONS
Clearwater, Dunedin and Indian Rocks Beach. We provide custom pick up service by meeting our guests at whatever waterfront dock or marina is most convenient to them, whether they are staying at a local hotel or condo, or driving in from a nearby town. Once your reservation is confirmed, we will ask you where you are staying or driving from to determine the pickup location that is most convenient for you!
WHAT DO WE DO ON OUR BOAT DAY?
It’s really up to each group, however most people want to do a combination of dolphin watching, island hopping, sightseeing, shelling on sandbars, swimming, etc. Let the Captain know what you want to do and where you want to go and enjoy your boat day.
WHERE WILL YOU PICK US UP?
WHAT CAN WE BRING?
Storage space is in short supply on board so please limit items to towels, phones and any other necessary personal items. There are dry spaces on board for cameras and anything else you want to keep dry.
CAN WE BRING OUR OWN ALCOHOL?
Yes, however for the safety of our guests and care of the boat, we do not allow hard liquor or red wine on the boat. We want you to enjoy your time, however we require responsible drinking and respectful behavior at all times. Please no glass bottles if possible.
DO YOU HAVE A COOLER ON BOARD?
Yes, we have a small cooler with ice provided for your convenience. Please feel free to bring your own small cooler for more capacity if necessary. No Styrofoam coolers please.
DO YOU HAVE MUSIC ON THE BOAT?
Yes, you can connect your device (phone/Ipod) to our sound system using Bluetooth.
CAN WE BRING FOOD OR SNACKS?
Yes, you may bring sandwiches or snacks (please nothing greasy or that might stain), or we can take you to eat at waterfront restaurants if desired.
CAN WE SMOKE ON BOARD?
No, for safety reasons, there is no smoking allowed on board the boat.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
The temperature may change quickly while on the water. Please watch the weather and bring appropriate clothing. In fall, winter and spring months, please bring something warm to wear just in case.
DO I NEED SEA SICKNESS MEDICATION?
We make every effort to make sure your boat day will be smooth. Because of the inherent nature of boating, and because weather conditions change, we will experience some waves and motion. We do not provide sea sickness medication.
CAN WE FISH OFF THE BOAT?
Our boats are not designed for fishing. Our nice vinyl seats do not like fish hooks. We have plenty of other activities to keep you entertained on the water.
WHAT KIND OF WILDLIFE WILL WE SEE?
The barrier islands and surrounding waterways are filled with lots of creatures that swim, crawl and fly. It is possible we will see dolphins, sea turtles, manatees, rays, fish, Osprey, crabs and more.
IS THERE A BATHROOM ON BOARD?
No. Please ask all guests to use the bathroom before departing. If you need to go to the bathroom while out on the water, you’ll need to go in the water, or the captain can take the group to a nearby island, marina or restaurant.
WHAT IF WE HAVE MORE THAN 10 PEOPLE?
Our largest boat can accommodate 10 people max. When we have groups with more than 10, we simply use two boats. It’s a lot of fun because the two boats stay together as we go dolphin watching, island hopping, and anchoring up at the sand bars where people use the slides, go swimming, snorkeling, shelling, or floating around the boats listening to music. Everyone is together the whole time and it is a lot of fun!
WHAT IS A BAREBOAT CHARTER?
If your group has 1-6 passengers, we can take that group out on our boat with our captain. When a group has more than 6 people, coast guard regulations prohibit us from taking that many people on our boat. A Bareboat Charter however, is similar to renting a boat and allows you to bring up to 10 people in your group. The arrangement essentially changes it from our boat and our captain, to your boat and your captain. You become the “Charterer” and may use the vessel for a period of time, and are considered the owner (not the real owner, but a disponent owner), which means the charterer takes on the legal obligations, and is responsible for the crew, passengers carried, and others. For your peace of mind, A Boat Day carries hull and liability insurance that covers bareboat charters and any approved operator of the boat.
Our Bareboat Charter Agreement contains the required elements of a valid bareboat charter:
The charterer must be given the option of selecting who will operate the boat. A Boat Day may assist by offering suggestions and even furnish the crew upon your request. Or, the charterer may Captain the boat themselves or bring their own captain, however the owner of the vessel requires any vessel operator to hold a USCG Captain’s License and be currently enrolled in a drug consortium. The charterer retains the authority to dismiss the crew for cause.
The charterer must pay the captain fee, fuel and any port charges. These fees/charges are estimated and included in the amount paid at the time of making the reservation. A Boat Day will forward the captain’s fee directly to the captain.
The charterer may obtain their own insurance, however A Boat Day carries hull and liability insurance that covers bareboat charters and any approved operator of the boat.
SHOULD WE TIP THE CAPTAIN?
It is always appreciated. We recommend the same % you would give at restaurant. Please note that for reservations requiring multiple boats, a 20% gratuity is charged and split evenly between your captains.
CAN WE BRING OUR PETS ON THE BOAT?
We do not allow pets on our boats. The islands that we go to are bird sanctuaries and they do not allow pets.
WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD AND WE CAN’T GO BOATING?
We will try to reschedule your boat day if possible. If that is not an option, you get a full refund.
WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?
If you need to cancel for any reason, just let us know at least 24 hours in advance and you will get a full refund.
DO YOU HAVE LIFE JACKETS?
Yes, we have all coast guard required safety equipment with lots of life jackets for everyone on board and all sizes for children, including infants. You are welcome to bring your own if you would like to.
